Romania’s industrial and logistics stock reached 7.3 million square meters at the end of the third quarter of this year, with nearly 90% of these spaces located in Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Pitesti, Ploiesti and Sibiu, cities that are connected to the local motorway network.

Bucharest currently has a stock of approximately 3.5 million square meters of warehouse space, accounting for 48% of the total stock, followed by Timisoara (760,000 sq. m), Cluj-Napoca (430,000 sq. m), Ploiesti (467,000 sq. m) and Pitesti (308,000 sq. m).

In Romania, there are several industrial areas with quick access to motorways, facilitating transportation and logistics. Among the most important are:

  • Bucharest: The western part of Bucharest, particularly CTPark Bucharest West and P3 A1 Logistic Park, benefits from direct access to the A1 Motorway
  • Timisoara: VGP Park and Timisoara Industrial Park are located close to the A1 Motorway, providing excellent transport connections
  • Ploiesti: Ploiesti West Park, located near the A3 Motorway, is a major logistics hub
  • Cluj: Cluj’s industrial parks have access to the A3 Motorway, facilitating fast transportation to other regions
  • Brasov: Industrial Park Brasov (ICCO) is well connected to the road infrastructure, including the A3 Motorway.

Industrial areas that will gain motorway access in the coming years

In the coming years, several industrial areas in Romania will benefit from improved motorway access due to ongoing infrastructure projects:

  • Craiova: The development of the Craiova-Pitesti Expressway will improve access to the motorway network for industrial areas in Craiova
  • Oradea: The extension of the A3 Motorway will facilitate access for industrial parks in Oradea.
  • Sibiu: Projects to extend the A1 Motorway will improve connections for industrial areas in Sibiu.

Other areas with developed infrastructure

In addition to the areas mentioned above, there are other regions with well-developed infrastructure that support industrial activities:

  • Arad: The industrial area in Arad benefits from good connections to the national and international road network[1].
  • Craiova: In addition to access to the future motorway, Craiova has well-developed road infrastructure
  • Iasi: Although it does not yet have direct motorway access, the road infrastructure in Iasi is continuously developing, facilitating regional transportation

These industrial areas are essential for Romania’s economic development, providing modern facilities and quick access to the transport network.
