NEWCOLD

01The Challenge

NewCold, a global leader in automated cold chain logistics, aimed to expand its operations into Romania, a growing market in Eastern Europe. However, identifying a suitable land plot near Bucharest that met specific zoning, utility, and infrastructure requirements proved to be a complex task. The main challenges included finding a site with zoning approval for a building height of up to 40 meters and a reserved power capacity of up to 3 MW.

02The Solution

Our industrial team, represented by Rodica Tarcavu, Andrei Brinzea, and Stefan Oprea, provided a tailored and comprehensive market analysis to assist NewCold in its search. After five months of detailed scenario evaluations, NewCold selected a 9-hectare pre-developed plot from Belgian developer WDP, located in Northern Bucharest near the A0 ring road. The chosen site fulfilled all necessary criteria for urban development and infrastructure, facilitating a seamless entry into the Romanian market.

03The Results

NewCold’s acquisition of the land marks its official entry into Romania, where it plans to construct a state-of-the-art automated cold storage warehouse by 2025. The facility will support regional logistics operations and expand NewCold’s global footprint, which already includes 22 high-tech warehouses across three continents. The transaction represents a significant collaboration among key market players and underscores Romania’s attractiveness as a logistics hub for international investors.
