01The Challenge
The owners of Agora Mall Arad (formerly Galleria Arad) set out to reposition the asset following a comprehensive refurbishment process, with the objective of revitalizing one of the most important shopping centers in western Romania. The ambition was to transform the property into a modern, proximity-oriented retail destination, closely aligned with the day-to-day needs and expectations of the local community.
The challenge lay in redefining the mall’s positioning and tenant mix in a competitive regional market, while ensuring the project remained relevant and attractive in the context of changing consumer behavior. This required a careful selection of retailers able to reinforce Agora Mall’s role as a convenient, family-oriented destination, supporting also long-term footfall and sustainable commercial performance.
02The Solution
Leveraging deep market insight and extensive experience in retail advisory, our team supported the project’s transformation from both a strategic and commercial perspective.
As part of the repositioning strategy, we advised on securing approximately 7,300 sq. m of retail space for a diverse mix of tenants, including brands such as Senic, Numero Uno, Hada, 18Gym, Maxi Pet, and Kamalion. The selected tenant mix was intentionally designed to enhance Agora Mall’s appeal as a proximity shopping destination, addressing the evolving lifestyle, convenience, and leisure needs of the surrounding community.
03The Results
The project now features the county’s largest indoor entertainment zone and a unique retail offering, including international brands entering Romania or the Arad market for the first time. This partnership highlights how targeted retail consultancy and strategic tenant mix planning can successfully reposition established shopping centers.
