LAGARDERE

01The Challenge

Lagardère Travel Retail, Romania’s travel retail market leader, approached a key moment in the evolution of its headquarters strategy in Bucharest. With a local presence spanning more than three decades and a continuously expanding portfolio of retail concepts, the company needed to reassess its office arrangements to ensure alignment with its operational priorities, workforce needs, and long-term growth trajectory.

Having occupied its existing space in Globalworth Campus during the pandemic, Lagardère Travel Retail faced the challenge of deciding whether to relocate or consolidate its headquarters. The decision needed to balance operational continuity, accessibility, flexibility, and efficiency, at a time when Bucharest’s office market was characterized by limited new supply, declining vacancy, and increasingly selective tenant demand focused on quality and sustainability.

02The Solution

Lagardère Travel Retail partnered with Cushman & Wakefield Echinox, which provided strategic advisory services throughout the lease renegotiation process.

Our team advised the tenant on renewing its lease for the 2,300 sq. m headquarters within Globalworth Campus, located in Bucharest’s Dimitrie Pompeiu office submarket. The consultancy supported Lagardère Travel Retail in structuring a contractual framework aligned with its current needs for flexibility, efficiency, and long-term stability. The decision to remain in the same building reflected the company’s emphasis on continuity, while benefitting from strong connectivity, proximity to key business hubs, and access to modern infrastructure and on-site amenities.

03The Results

The successful lease renewal reinforced Lagardère Travel Retail’s commitment to Globalworth Campus as its long-term headquarters location in Bucharest. The transaction sent a positive signal to the local office market, underlining the attractiveness of well-connected, high-performing office projects that offer predictability and support for evolving workplace models.

By consolidating its headquarters in a campus-style project, Lagardère Travel Retail secured a workspace that supports its expanding operations and its three core business lines in Romania. The renewed lease also reflects a broader market trend, where retention strategies and tenant–landlord partnerships play an increasingly important role in a supply-constrained environment.
